What is the status of the Prevention Passport in October 2026 ?
The original version announced an obligation "starting from September 2025" and a declaration of internal training "starting from the 1st quarter of 2026." The schedule has evolved. The portal opened to employers on March 16, 2026, and the transitional regime, initially planned until September 30, 2026, has been extended until December 31, 2026, according to the official Prevention Passport portal.
- Until December 31, 2026 : a 9-month declaration deadline for two categories of training (mandatory training fully governed by regulations, and training required to hold a position necessitating authorization or certification from the employer), according to service-public.gouv.fr.
- From January 1, 2027 : deadline reduced to 6 months, with four categories of eligible training.
Details can be found in our article on the end of the transition period.
Training certificate and proof of completion
Two documents must be distinguished. The training certificate proves that the employee attended the training. The proof of completion (certificate, authorization) confirms that they passed it. The nature of the document determines what you must declare and keep on file.
The risks of late or incomplete declarations
A missing or late declaration exposes the company to compliance issues and weakens its traceability in the event of an audit. With the deadline moving from 9 to 6 months in 2027, the volume to be processed is concentrated into a shorter window, making improvisation more costly. Also, verify the declarations made by your training organizations: the employer can request a correction within the applicable deadline.
