A theory made to make you think
To get the day off to a good start, we all shared a lunch together. At the end of the game, Alessio, Director of Operations, proposed a first game. To introduce this activity, accompanied by an image of planet Earth, he asked us, what inspired us.
So of course, we answered “the earth, the globe, the oceans, the earth...” We also had “system” and many other words that this image inspired us with.
The aim was to take us to the Gaia theory. But do you know the Gaïa theory?
Briefly, this hypothesis was developed by Professor Lovelock (a British independent thinker, scientist, and environmentalist). According to him, the Earth is a living organism that controls its own atmosphere and ecological system. He decided to call this theory, the Gaïa theory, the name of the Greek goddess of the Earth.
This hypothesis expresses all the complexity of the Earth, which is not an isolated object as scientists perceive it, by limiting itself to the strict study of each of its elements.
Finally, for some ecologists, Gaïa is a living organism, endowed with conscience and even endowed with “self-regulation” and global intelligence.
In addition, the objective of introducing us to this theory was to go further into the awareness-raising on environmental issues.

The “Egg Challenge”
To continue this reflection around our environment and its protection, we carried out a second activity.
The” Egg Challenge ” Or the flying egg in French, it's a Team building renowned in businesses. This challenge is inspired by Steve Edwards, who came up with the idea for the Canadian Student Activity Advisors Association himself.
We formed four groups to carry out this activity. Each group was one of the 4 elements: earth, water, air, and fire.
The rules of the game:
Find and develop, as a group, a device to avoid breaking the egg when thrown from the top of the steps. To do this, each team had to find strategies to protect their egg, so that it did not break when it landed.
Several ideas came out of this activity: cooking the egg, wrapping it in bubble wrap, cardboard, blankets, but also in a sleeping bag,... well, here are lots of great ideas!
Objectives of this game:
The objective of the activity was to Bringing the team together around an objective and highlight the principles of group work.
It is a very good way to promote the cohesion and teamwork and problem solving to unite team members.
In addition, it makes a link with the theme of The environment, since we needed to figure out how to protect our egg, as well as to protect our environment and all the things that Earth has made available to us.
Develop our CSR policy
Symalean has fully integrated the CSR approach to its global strategy. Our two priorities are:
- Resourcing the planet by maintaining and restoring biodiversity resources
- Contribute to wellness of our collaborators
The working conditions, well-being and motivation of our employees are essential. This is why Symalean carries out all possible actions throughout the year to promote the quality of life at work of the whole team.
To integrate the new arrivals and please the whole team, we organized this team building day. With an activity during the meal (the Egg Challenge), but also an activity in the afternoon. We proposed to the whole team to paddle and/or canoe and then share an aperitif dinner together. To promote exchange and cohesion, we created teams for the canoe, in order to mix all services. A good way to connect with colleagues with whom we work the least. To conclude, this day was synonymous with cohesiveness, of sharing, of Good humor, and water (lots of water...)
Feedback from the team
“This afternoon was above all meetings, the pleasure of meeting, sharing a friendly moment and discovering each other. A moment that allows everyone, who are more and more numerous, to come together.”
“A moment of relaxation shared with colleagues, a different setting, laughs, exchanges. Everything was there for a moment of sharing under the beautiful sun.”
“It was really cool to share moments with people you don't necessarily see every day.”
“Friendly atmosphere” “Very good idea for a team building day”
