Organizations must now ensure that their employees are aware of the quality culture and the expected ethical behaviors—a principle that was more implicit in the 2015 version.
Emerging technologies must be documented
While not adding a strict new requirement, an annex encourages organizations to assess the risks and opportunities associated with adopting new technologies, including artificial intelligence, and to track the decisions made and the associated responsibilities. A less discussed aspect of this revision deserves to be highlighted. The transition timeline you need to know
Companies already certified to ISO 9001:2015 are not required to switch immediately. Surveillance and recertification audits can continue under the 2015 version until the second half of 2029. After this date, all surveillance or recertification audits must be conducted under the 2026 version. The switch itself is carried out via a transition audit, which can be performed during a regular surveillance or recertification audit by scheduling it directly with your certification body.
